New morning plan
Friday was the last day of Ungodly Hour Writing Club, which means I need a new morning plan. Keep treating 5:30-6:30am as protected writing time, as if my ungodly hour buddies are still there, writing at the same time, holding me accountable? Move the hour earlier, which would give me more quiet time in my early-rising household but add to my sleep deficit? I’ll make a decision by tonight, set my alarm, and commit. Onward.
This week in writing
Still working through a revision of Leave. Last week I was halfway through step 2 of my revision process. This week I finished step 2 and am beginning to work my way through the list from step 3, which is mostly things I want to triple-check. For example, there is a chapter in the book that details the costs of my pregnancy and delivery, and I want to go through all the medical bills (so many medical bills) and add it up one more time.
I’m almost ready for the manuscript to be out of my hands again… though I did just completely rewrite the first chapter.
This week in reading
Too many books going! I’m reading Elif Shafak’s Black Milk, Lexi Kent-Monning’s The Burden of Joy, Mattilda Bernstein Sycamore’s Touching the Art, Danny Caine’s Picture Window, and Krys Malcolm Belc’s The Natural Mother of the Child, this last one on audio. I love the way book hopping makes books talk to each other in surprising ways.
That’s it! Now off to meet with my writing group for our once-a-month check-in. 👋
