Apparently I never got around to setting writing goals for myself in 2023. In December I mentioned I was thinking about them, in January I said I was giving them space, and then that turned into this truly over-the-top spreadsheet. I did mention at that point that I wanted to publish more nonfiction this year (I did it!), but I don’t think I ever really cemented any goals, nothing specific at least.
That tracks, because a year ago, finding time to write felt very hard, almost impossible. I wouldn’t say it feels easy right now, but we’re making it work!
For 2024, I’m going back to the goals I set for 2022:
Read every day.
Write every day.
Doesn’t matter how much or how little. Just make it daily.
This will help: my friend Sara decided to run her Ungodly Hour Writing Club again in January. It’s free, with a suggested donation that goes toward Writing Co-Lab’s scholarship fund. Find me there every morning in January. Til then.
