1000 Words Prep
1000 Words of Summer starts June 4. This will be my fifth year participating. It is always challenging. It is usually fruitful. Here’s what I’m doing to prepare.
Lining up a bunch of books that I suspect have the same vibe as my novel. First up: The Folded Clock by Heidi Julavits.
Lining up a bunch of things to watch, starting with Breuer’s Bohemia and most definitely including a re-watch of Columbus.
Making a list of scenes that need writing.
Making a list of prompts in case I get stuck.
Maybe making a playlist? I don’t normally do this but why not.
Setting a screen time limit of 10 minutes a day for social media apps — just enough time to check in on close friends but not nearly enough time to get lost.
Maybe you will join us this year? If so, I’m cheering you on and I’ll see you in the Slack.
